We caught the attention of Hasib and Raj, on their Japanese speciality unit, Katsu. Their main dish is a Japanese dish of meat or seafood coated in breadcrumbs then deep fried. They, unlike some of the others, bring the unit in each day and drive it away in the afternoon, and have been trading there for around ten years.
On Wednesdays the pressure to cook and serve quickly at this stall is intense, and that perhaps the slower pace on Friday when we went, is welcome, though the stall owner, their boss, would probably disagree.
Both live nearby in London, and their van is parked close to Hasib’s home, so commuting is easy. They said most customers are from neighbouring offices, but they know a lot live close by and come to buy their daily meals to enjoy later in the comfort of their homes.
